Grant Writing Services
Iskotew Training Inc. is proud to offer professional grant writing services to help First
Nations and other communities secure the funding they need. With decades of expertise –
including a specialty in Firefighting and Emergency Services grants – we can write any grant proposal and navigate funding sources for you. Our team handles every step of the process
from initial research to final submission, acting as your partner in turning project ideas into
funded reality. We have a proven track record of success, having secured funding through
multiple large corporations, philanthropic foundations, non-profits, oil & energy companies, and provincial and federal government programs. We are committed to finding grants and funding sources no matter what the program is, and we do so at highly competitive rates designed to lower the barrier for communities seeking support. In short, we only succeed when you succeed – and we’re fully invested in helping your community thrive.
1
Initial Consultation and Planning:
We begin with a free initial consultation to understand your community’s needs, project ideas, and funding goals. We help identify the project’s objectives and gather background information. This planning stage ensures we capture your vision and align the grant strategy with your community’s priorities from the start.
2
Funding Research and Opportunity Identification:
Next, we conduct thorough research to find funding sources that best fit your project. This includes scouring federal, provincial, and local government grant programs, corporate sponsorships and community investment funds, foundation grants, and any specialized funding for Indigenous initiatives.(Did you know? The Government of Canada alone maintains extensive funding programs for Indigenous communities
canada.ca, and there are dozens of corporate and nonprofit grants available at any given time.) We will create a tailored list of grant opportunities and deadlines, and work with you o select the best matches for your project.
3
Grant Proposal Writing:
Once we’ve identified a target funding opportunity, we handle all
the writing and development of the grant proposal. This includes crafting a compelling narrative that tells your community’s story and describes the project’s purpose, outcomes, and importance. We ensure the proposal aligns with the funder’s guidelines and evaluation criteria, using language and data that resonate with the grant reviewers. We also specialize in writing about technical areas (for example, emergency services or infrastructure) in a clear, persuasive way. Throughout this stage, we collaborate closely with your team to gather any needed information and to reflect your community’s voice and values in the application.
4
Budget Development and Documentation:
A strong grant application requires a detailed and credible budget. We will work with you to develop a project budget that fits the funder’s requirements, including all expected costs (equipment, training, personnel, etc.) and any match funding if required. We make sure the budget is well-justified and ties into the proposal narrative. In addition, we help assemble all required documentation and attachments (such as Band Council resolutions, letters of support from partners, proof of charitable status, etc.). We ensure all parts of the application package are complete and formatted correctly.
5
Review, Editing and Compliance Check:
Before submission, we conduct a thorough review and editing process. We proofread every section for clarity, professionalism, and correctness. Just as importantly, we double-check that the proposal meets all of the funder’s guidelines – from word counts to required forms – so that your application isn’t disqualified on a technicality. If your community has an internal review committee or leadership that wants to provide input, we will incorporate their feedback at this stage as well. Our goal is a polished, error-free proposal that puts your best foot forward.
6
Submission Follow-Up:
We take care of the final submission process, whether it’s an
online portal upload, email, or mail-in application. We handle the tedious work of filling out grant forms and ensuring everything is submitted before the deadline. After submission, we continue to support you by tracking the application status and following up if the funding agency requests additional information or clarifications. We will keep you informed of any updates regarding the grant. If the proposal is successful, we can also assist with initial grant agreement paperwork or connect you with resources for managing the funded project. (And if the proposal is not chosen, we will seek feedback and immediately start looking for alternative funding opportunities – we never give up on finding a solution for your needs.)

By covering all parts of the grant proposal process in this comprehensive way, we save you time and stress. You can focus on your day-to-day community operations while we focus on producing a winning proposal.
